Weekend

This weekend has been so great. I haven't posted anything since that amazing night I saw a very partiular view of Paris for a couple of hours in the night, and etc., I've been wanting to write many things and haven't gotten around to it but now I just have this urge to share how this wekend has felts like chez moi, rue Saint Sabin.

Bridgette and Vanessa (visiting from Vancouver) went to Barcelona for the weekend (that's the kind of thing you do when you like in Paris, yeah!) and so I had the whole place for myself. I imagined since I would be alone here with no distractions, that I would get alll those piles of homework/assignments done, but oh, what happens first thing Saturday? Sam, Jessica and I decided to go for lunch at Chez Jeannette in my old neighborhood.

Chez Jeannette, day or night, never lets me down, love that place. I had a burger, hence meat, for the first time in quite a long time, and it was so meay I just couldn't do it in the end. I've kind of forgotten how to eat meat an though it was good, I can finally after a long time in limbo ('involuntaryly vegetarian though kind of voluntarily') see myself going fully vegetarian. Problem is, yeah it would be so easy to be a vegetarian here, but what happens when I go back to Costa Rica and all my favorite home dishes have chicken/fish! I haven't decided if I'll really commit to it.

Anyway, going back to my Saturday story. After the meal we took the metro to Chemin Vert, on our way to the Bibliotheque Historique, a library which has a great reading room overlooking a beautiful courtyard in the middle of Le Marais. It's a great place, Sam told me about it a few days ago and I'm so glad we went cause it's a beautiful room with great lighting and comfy chairs and kind of Harry Potterish.

Oh! On our way to this place we passed by an art gallery and realized that some of the pictures on the walls were by Malick Sidibe! He's a photographer from Mali.. I had run into his work randomly online, and he has a great picture Sam had put in his Tumblr called Nuit de Noel The picture was there, i was so excited to see it. I bought a little booklet of his latest work, a series on "vues de dos", back view portraits.

We also got orange juice + cakes at the patio of the Institut Suedois. I think every single Parisian was outside of their houses yesterday, either in a terrace or a park enjoying the beautiful weather. Insitut Suedois, win, deifnitely coming back for more juice, soup, pastries and other great things they had in the cute little cafe.

Saturday night after our study session I decided to go thrift shopping for summer dresses (it was 24C yesterday!!!). had no luck, but did score a froen yogurt on the way back home, YES! Not so great as the Granville/Broadway little place I would go at least once a week (pain in my pocket cause its so expensive), but eating frozen yogurt under the sun, walking Le Marais... ah, amazing!

Came back home and then chatted for more than an hour with my brotehr cause yesterday his band was playing in the opening of the new CR National Stadium!! It was a huge deal, the biggest bands in CR plsaying and they won a concert to open the Rock section of the day of concerts. I really wished I could've seen them but from the reviews I've seen online and Facebook love I can see they rocked it :)

Now, Sunday afternoon, I'm just chilling with a cup of coffee after having a great meal and shower. Oh and it was raining just a bit ago, but in a very relaxing and beautiful way (as in makes-me-wanna-get-cozy-in-the-couch-and-put-a-movie-on way). Life is very good, can't complain!!
